Frequently Asked Questions
What is Zeyti?
Zeyti scans a packaged food's barcode or ingredient label and checks it against your allergies, diet, and beliefs, including halal and kosher, all in one profile.
Does Zeyti guarantee a product is safe?
No. Zeyti reads labels; it does not test food. A result of "no known restrictions found" means nothing on the label matched your profile, not that the product is safe. Labels can be incomplete, and OCR can misread bad lighting or damaged packaging.
How does Zeyti handle halal and kosher?
Zeyti reads what a label declares and flags ingredients worth a second look, such as gelatin, glycerin, or rennet, where the source isn't clear. It never claims independent certification. Definite prohibitions like pork or alcohol are flagged directly; uncertain ingredients get a caution.
What is the difference between an allergy and an intolerance in Zeyti?
You set a severity for each restriction. An intolerance shows a caution. An allergy shows a stop. The two never share the same alert level.
Can I add my own allergens or keywords?
Yes. Zeyti Pro lets you add your own keywords alongside the built-in restriction lists, so a trigger no fixed list covers still gets caught.
Do I need an account?
No. Zeyti has no sign-in. Your profile stays on your device and syncs through your own iCloud account.
What is Zeyti Pro?
Barcode scanning is free and unlimited. Pro adds ingredient-label scanning, diet and lifestyle restrictions beyond allergens and beliefs, and custom keywords.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open Settings on your device, tap your Apple ID, then Subscriptions, and select Zeyti to manage or cancel. Apple manages all billing.
Where does the ingredient data come from?
Barcode lookups use Open Food Facts, an open, crowd-sourced product database. Coverage is strongest in Europe and North America and improves as more products are added.
